The First Day

We had a wonderful time, the first day of the Craft and Antique show. People were lined up a half hour before opening, anxious to be the first ones to get a chance at all the goodies.

This happy camper plans to fill the wheelbarrow with pumpkins in the fall.

Though this picture is rather dark, the colors used by the girls at Grandiflora are amazing!! What a way to brighten a day.

Some people just have to be Divas.

Teens for Christ once again is providing some delicious meals and snacks for us. They have their coffee stand, which also serves up milkshakes,

And their food stand. I love their taco salad. Here are the kids in the kitchen,

And here they are in the coffee stand. They are really hard workers and do a fantastic job of serving everyone in a timely manner.

So folks, it's not too late. The show is open until 8 tonight, and 5 tomorrow.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to work I go. . .
You know, I don't think there is any more rewarding work than that you do in the garden. I am so excited that spring is here and I can start spending my time clearing, planting, replanting and growing. And the best perks are the beautiful bouquets to put in your house.

Hi Hoe Nursery is owned and operated by Sharon and Craig Haugen in Lynden. Talk about your Happy Place!!!! We are so glad to have Sharon with us at the show this year. It's been a few years since she has been here.

Here is Sharon with her mock up booth. By the way, Sharon is the proud Grandmother of triplet girls, so be sure to stop by and share brags with her.

Sharon has such a knack for incorporating yard art into her gardens.

And her arrangements. What a gift.

Cedarbrook Lavender

Tracie Barrick of Cedarbrook Lavender and Herb Farm will be at our show for the first time this year. The farm offers 70 varieties of Lavender and 200 herb and perrenial plants.
At the show she will be featuring culinary items, handcrafted items, and of course the personal products, such as lotions, soap and spa goodies.

Red Barn Lavender

We are happy to have Red Barn Lavender at our show again this year. They are a local business from Ferndale and are entering their 5th season of growing Lavender.

At the show they will have plenty of live plants, lavender, rosemary and thyme to name a few, for those of you anxious to start planting.

And of course, they will have a great selection of lavender products.

Soaps, lotions, essential oils to name a few.

You will also find honey and other culinary items, neck wraps and sachets.

She Who Sews

Cheryl Boddy is a fabric addict! Is this a bad thing? That is debatable. For those of you who don't sew, you can find a myriad of handmade kitchen accessories in Cheryl's booth at our show. This picture shows her crocheting the much needed, famous net scrubbies. I can't live without them! I use them to clean dishes, pots and pans, the bathroom, the floors, EVERYTHING. And look at those lovely, bright fabrics.

Cheryl started doing shows to accommodate her passion for fabrics, so help her out by buying some nice goodies for yourself or a friend. Then watch her buy more fabric and create even more accessories for us! What a lovely circle game.

Grandiflora!!

A Mother and Daughters (2) endeavor, Grandiflora is a favorite shop for all of us locals here in the Lynden area. When you need something to perk up your home, a friend, or your mood, this is where to come.

Featuring home decor, both vintage and new, they incorporate handmade items also, for a very unique look.

We are so pleased to have them back with us at the show this year where they will be featuring handmade and vintage items. All handmade items are carefully juried to provide the best quality and selection.

After seeing them at the show, you will want to hop on down the road to their wonderful shop. We know you will love them. Grandiflora is a girlfriend sort of place to take your cares away and have a little fun.

James R. Williamson

I have admired his work for years, having seen it in clubs and restaurants in the Seattle area.

Christie of Birchwood Gardens has been making natural herbal body care products and herbal teas for 25 years, and we are always excited to have her at our show. She grows all of her plants and herbs on her small farm in Bellingham, and is a regular at the Bellingham Farmer's Market.

Robert of Artistic Gifts/Keene Jewelry, is another new vendor at our show. As our title implies, there's no such thing as too much jewelry, right girls?
Is this bracelet just heavenly? Not for sale, it was a custom piece, but I wanted to show the quality of Robert's work.

And these more simpler necklaces are real beauties.

I've got my heart set on those hummingbirds, so you all will have to beat me to the show!!!

Robert is definitely adding a new dimension to the show, and we hope to see you all there.

Oh, Baby!

Cozy Wozy is a home based company run by Moms. They make beautiful one of a kind baby blankets, swaddling cloths and receiving blankets, all with the most current of fabrics.

So who says babies have to have blue of pink? Look at these wonderfully bright colors, and the trendy fabrics in the blankets.

Hmmm, Jessica does custom orders. Wonder if she would do a full size for one big adult?

Another new vendor this year expresses the Pacific Northwest in metal sculpture. A resident of Whidbey Island in Puget Sound, he has plenty of inspiration for his work. Flower Arranging Birthday Pary

What a fun Creative Birthday Party we had today!!

We asked the owner of Courtyard Gardens in Everson if she would allow us to have a party in her shop. Then teach us to make an arrangement out of our Garden clippings. We all were in flower heaven & were inspired to keep those summer bouquets multiplying!! Out of the box birthdays are best!!

The preserving solution recipe we were thrilled to learn was 2T lemon juice, 2 t. sugar & 1/4 t. bleach!! Yeah!!!

Ormolulu

Debi's booth at our show is always a busy one, and her arrangement usually wins a prize for creativity.

Back Lane Gardens

Woweee, we have been so busy with last minute details, getting ready for the show next week, that we just haven't had time to blog!

Linda DeBoer, of Back Lane Gardens, has been in our show for many years. She always brings the spirit of Spring with her, and this year we are particularly looking forward to it.

As you can see in these pictures, she will have early flowers for you to plant, and plenty of yard art.

Linda is a certified Master Gardener, so be sure to come see her and stock up on herbs and flowers. Oh, she also makes the most wonderful soaps!

Garden Show Inspiration

The Seattle Garden Show was very creatively inspiring this year!! Going to Shows really helps me see what works and what people like in a show.

This pot I loved because it had lots of great variety, texture and it inspired me to do something similar. I had to show you!! I really loved all the gardening, and plant booths, it made spring feel close, and it is!! Only 4 weeks away!!

Rose Marie Gallery

She will be at the Northwest Garden Show in Seattle this weekend. I cannot wait to see her booth. I love fabric so I have to check out her great selection.

Recycle, Repurpose, Go Green

Linda Bylsma from Lost River Alpacas is busy making crafts for you out of "found treasures". These days, they call that repurposing. At her booth at the Lynden Craft and Antique Show, you will find aprons made from used jeans and overalls, sachets made from formal dresses, and hats made from wool sweaters. There will be many other items to shop for, including luxurilous yarns produced with the fiber from her very own alpacas!

This morning we set up our Scarecrow display for the Citywide contest.

My neighbor Linda Bylsma is the creator/designer extrodinare. When she got her fashion degree I am sure she did not have scarecrows in mind. Anyway, we are excited for the Show next week. We have the best vendors yet.

Surroundings Home Decor & Gifts

Surroundings is one of Lyndens best kept secrets. It is up stairs in the Dutch Mothers Restaurant. What a great store for home decor and unique gifts! If you haven't checked it out, you have to! It is open 10-4 Mon-Sat. The prices are great and it is one of the best gift shops in the county. The owner & Artist is Christa Warren, her speciality is gorgeous floral designs. We are delighted she will be in our upcoming show.

Fall is in the Air

The corn is tall, the fog is low and the Apples are here!! I am very excited that the famous Bellewood Acres is having their opening this weekend. They will be open now everyday. Their apples are the best, and so is their fresh ground honey peanut butter. Everyone who tries it gets addicted. You have to go soon.

I just found a really great neighborhood farm to visit, It is very creative, combining a cutting Garden of flowers & vegtables.
